SOG Strat Ops Automatic Hardcased Black Straight Edge CPM S35VN Blade Folding Knife SOGSO1001-BX SO1001-BX

USA Made

DESCRIPTION

Based around superior CPM S35VN steel, SOG's USA produced knives offer improved toughness, better edge retention, higher resistance to wear and edge chipping while maintaining ease of sharpening. The Strat Ops is a USA-made fully-equipped, heavy-duty folder with an automatic CPM S35VN blade with a black Cerakote coating housed in a linen Micarta handle with stainless steel liners. Despite a 3.5-inch blade, it is relatively lightweight at 3.7 oz and slim. It is quick to open and durable. With the push of a button, the blade opens quickly and locks up with a secure click of the lock. The linen Micarta handle offers superior grip in wet or dry conditions and looks better the more it is used. Combining all these features with a thin profile and a reversible low-carry pocket clip make it a perfect choice for your carry. For questions on legality, consult your local, county, & state laws.

CPM S35VN

CPM-S35VN is a USA-made steel known to offer improved toughness, better edge retention, higher resistance to wear and edge chipping while maintaining ease of sharpening.

SOG is beloved by those who enjoy cutting tools meant to thrive in adverse conditions and well designed tactical knives. It stands to reason, since the company itself has roots in the military. During the Vietnam war, a special ops team known as MACV-SOG executed several covert missions, during which they carried a unique combat knife into the jungle. That same knife inspired knife maker Spencer Frazer to reproduce the original SOG Bowie knife and pay tribute to the special ops unit that created it. What began as a single commemorative model soon became a full line of innovative tools - field-proven by US Special Forces, even honored as the Navy SEAL knife of choice. Today, SOG knives are carried with confidence into the most demanding situations. Forged out of tradition, hardened in the field, honed for you. So whether you're protecting others or leading an epic hunting expedition, tackling one of life's everyday challenges or facing your most extreme conditions yet, lead the way with SOG. All SOG products including knives, tools, gear, and packs are guaranteed against defects in workmanship and materials for the life of the item.

    SOG Strat Ops Automatic knife

Posted by Devin Fabor on 7th Apr 2017

I purchased my Strat Ops from FBK about a week ago, and it arrived in the mail today. (Quick shipping, btw!). I opened the package up, and was delighted to find my new SOG knife. Its light, slim, and fits in the hand nicely. The button to deploy the blade protrudes slightly from the recess in the Micarta, and takes a fair degree of force to open, so you won't open it up by accident. I was initially not overly impressed, as the action is very stiff, but after running it for a few minutes, things are beginning to smooth out. The lock on the reverse side is somewhat sticky, and locks about halfway, so you have to give it some force to get it to lock securely. I think that's another issue that will work itself out with time. SOG automatics seem to be a bit better designed than others, as the spring mechanism applies force to open the blade through the entire arc of motion, not just the first 1/3, resulting in a much faster, more reactive opening. The Cerakote on the blade is gorgeous, with the SOG logo on one side, and the Made in America, S35VN on the other. It is certainly sharp as hell! One last thing that I was pleasantly surprised by - when I opened the box, there was a Certificate of Authenticity, and a "95 of 500" First Production Run on the COA. Very pleased by my purchase, and I think FBK is my new favorite supplier!
