Winter Flounder

One of the most popular game fish on the east coast, flounder can be found during any season of the year along the bottom of ocean floors and even estuaries during the colder months. Their diet consists mainly of small fish and crustaceans. Flounder can grow up to 3 feet in length and weigh over 20 pounds. Flounder like to hang out in soft muddy areas along the ocean floor, especially around docks, reefs and bridge piles. Flounder respond well to small live bait such as minnows, but can be caught with other bait such as squid and shrimp.
