Why you should buy American made products.

Have you thought about this before choosing a product? We here at Fishbone work to provide a great selection of American made products. There are many reasons for this, first being our support to the American worker and our economy. When buying American made products you help save American jobs which are the foundation of our economy. Buying American products will help reduce our high un-employment rates and for every manufacturing job created additional jobs are created directly or indirectly. Think about this, when you purchase a American made products that helps pay the wages of American workers. Those workers then use the wages to spend (hopefully on American made products) and the money stays here in our country. Buying foreign made products supports workers and other countries economies. As more Americans choose products made here, a snowball effect happens. More American workers are employed and our economy grows. 

Buying American made products helps our environment. All foreign made products must be shipped to us. The cost of this is built into the product. Think about the amount of fuel being burned. The average cargo ship that carry these products burns approximately 120 gallons of marine diesel fuel per mile! How far is it from China to the U.S.A.? The distance is 7200 miles, so just one cargo ship burns, well i don't need to do the math. Many of these foreign countries have little or no environmental regulations that help protect our environment. 

How do they pay for all that fuel and still give us something for cheap. Two things come to mind, first the lack of quality in the materials of many products we buy. It's almost like many of the things we buy are disposable. The second thing is cheap labor. Many of our products are built in factories were the conditions and treatment of employees would never be allowed here. 

I just want to say that there are imported products that are of high quality. We all need to look at what we buy and make a good choice. The better choice is American made products.
